Let's run some numbers: Total cost is 20 X 100K = 2M Total sales is 20 X 149.9K = 2.998M Total profit is 2.998M - 2M = 0.998M Each partnership invest $75K, and make $50K profit. You said grand total of all partner's return 2.5M, implying 20 partners needed, because 2.5M / (75K + 50K) = 20. 20 partners will make total profit of 20 X 50K = 1M. This has exceeded the total profit of the project. Let's see the miserable story of the general partner. He needs to invest the rest of the cost needed. The total cost is 2M, and partners has contributed: 20 X 75K = 1.5M, thus the general partner needs to invest 2M - 1.5M = 0.5M. Let's see what the general partner gets back from his investment and his work. The total sales is 2.998M, money back to partners (invest + profit) are 20 X 125K = 2.5M, leaving the general partner 2.998M - 2.5M = 0.498M. General partner lose 0.5M - 0.498M = 2K for his investment and his work. How this is possible????
