Business Cards

Recommended Posts

I'm going to get some business cards printed up, but was wondering how we would describe what we do on the cards, ie. property management, lease purchasing specialist, and what would our title be? I know "real estate investor" conjures up images of someone trying to buy your cow for some magical beans.

Also, does anyone know of online businesses that can print them up cheap?

thanks

Steve

I just finished printing out my "own" biz cards in my home office last night for both "clients" and "T/Bs", I purchased a program that creates biz cards in seconds and they look very professional WOW! Is only $29.00 :ninja:

Since I'm the "I am in control here" type of person, I like to test different titles on my cards to see which ones attract and which ones don't.

My title for both so far is a simple....

my name

Real Estate Consultant

Rent To Own Professional

www.mypage.com (tb's or client's)

my cell

my city & State

my email

This program also creates digital biz cards to attach to every email as well ;)

Hi Steve. I hear what you're saying about the investor title. A homeowner hears that and automatically thinks, "Here's someone that wants to make a bunch of money at my expense.". Personally, I don't the title you have on your business card is that important as long as people know what you do. I know a few people on this board have had good results with either lease purchase professional or lease purchase specialist (especially if you're going to mainly concentrate on CA's).

Vista Print is a good online source for business cards. You can choose between their free cards (which have a small ad on the bottom of the backside) or their premium cards, which are around $20 for 250 depending on the options you choose.

Vista print is great if you want to look cheap. Their small ad on the back screams that you, too, are small time and not serious about your business, no matter what it is.

Go to a local printer and spend $50.00 on 1000 cards.

Now, what do you put on them? Bev has the right idea in my opinion.

Their ad on the back is ONLY on their freebie cards where you just pay for shipping.

Correct. Avoid this at all costs.

My opinion: If you don't have $50.00 to invest on a business card, you shouldn't even think about going into business.

I just ordered 1000 cards from Vista print, cost me $55.00 total, and no, I didn't go with their ad on the back. I also went with Bev's idea of a "Rent to Own Professioanl"

Thanks for the help

I agree, but some people don't have a lot of $$ to invest when starting out. It may look a little tacky to have a Vista Print ad on the back, but I don't think it would be a deal breaker for a potential client. An accountant that I used back home had the freebie business cards, but I didn't stop using him because he chose to do so. For the record, my business cards don't have the ad on the back. :ninja:

Thanks for pointing that one out, just when I thought I was infallible :ninja: (hope that's spelled right!)

Steve,

BTW, I got the manual on Friday, and have gone through it once so far. Going to squeeze in another reading tonight between "warm calls."

I hear ya too, and this works both ways (homeowners / tb's), I just had another experience sorta like this today. A prospect TB has been contacting me for this one property I have, she's been trying hard to get over whatever fear she had to take that next step and make an appt to come and see the property.. anyway, she's been with this fear for over a month now, she called me this morning again for the 7th time and ask if the property was still available and of course is NOT available anymore, she was sad :D and right before we we're about to hang up the phone, she finally popped the question (the reason for her fear), she asked me if I was either an agent or investor, I replied to her that I was a "RTO Professional", her reaction was .. what!? :D and then she said..." I wish you would had told me this from the beginning! All this time I thought you were an investor / agent!!! " Anyway, now that she knows my title, she finally made an appt with me to see another property in a few mitues.. and she's living work as I type this :ninja:

You are walking a fine line there, Bev, aren't you? You ARE an investor. Don't get caught up in semantics and lead anybody down a false path.

I'm not sure what the difference is in calling ourselves what we want to, but something just tells me that the truth about what we do needs to be right there skimming the surface, at least, no? :ninja:

It's kinda like the guy who drinks WAY too much every day saying, "I'm NOT an alcoholic.....I don't go to meetings !!" :D

To me, it doesn't really matter what you call yourself. Bev isn't being deceptive by calling herself a RTO professional, because that's what she is! If she calls herself a real estate investor that specializes in lease purchasing, then that's what she is! There's nothing underhanded about any of those titles because that's just what they are; a title. If the t/b was hesitant about her being a big, bad, fast-talking investor but is alright with RTO professional, then all the better. I'm sure Bev just made a bunch of $$ by changing something trivial like her title. B)

Depending on who I'm talking to (and whether or not I feel like fielding questions about what I do say like when I'm hanging out with friends) I own a real estate company that specializes in lease purchasing; I'm a real estate consultant; I help people that don't have a large down payment buy a home; I make blow up dolls in the likeness of the Golden Girls and other sexy seniors. B);)
