Dave T 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2007 Business license requirements are governed by local law. Ask your city hall officials this question. If you are planning to operate as a sole proprietor, then your SSN is already your tax id. If you are planning to use a business entity, an EIN is not always required (depends upon the entity you plan to form and whether you will have paid employees) but will be issued if you ask.
