Advertising FOR sellers

Recommended Posts

....well nothing to brag about, but here's what I'm fixing to implement

with my website (for sellers).

This is for those lowest on the Motivated Seller totem pole (i.e. they don't even

want you to put a non-exclusive option, not even pay an up-front consulting fee for

a couple hunnert $).

For those "do it yourselfers" I'm going to offer to list their house on my

Available Homes section, complete with information and pictures.

I still haven't come up with a price to charge, but I'm making sure it's

going to be lower than what others charge.

Now, I know that there are a handful of other websites, such as fsbo.com etc., that

offer this.

But I was doing some research on fsbo.com, and their lowest package starts @ $69.95 for 9 months. ("Bronze Package") :P

I figure I could charge anywhere from $20-$50 (up front) or maybe $5-$10 (per month) just to slap it on my site and leave it

there until it's sold.

I'm not sure if others have done or thought about this. If they have, I've yet to hear

anything. Also, I shouldn't be considered "acting as an agent" because I'll direct all inquiries to the sellers.

Like I said, it's nothing to distract us from the money-makers (actual deals), but just 1 a week

is enough to buy a case of your favorite brew!

...and you only had to click a few buttons on your computer.

Whatcha think?

The question is, "Why not?"

There's no downside to this. You'll pick up a few pesos every now and then, and it is a way to get your name out there, too.

Jason, a number of agents are allowing FSBOs to advertise on their sites for FREE because statistics show that 70 - 90% (depending on follow-up) of FSBOs who put their house up on an agent's site, end up listing with that agent.

Yeah, Doug, good point.

On my long drive to Mississippi this evening, I got to thinking that I could either

offer what I described in my initial post, or I could do the same

as what you're talking about.

Give something for free, so that I might have a shot at

the house should it not sell for them.

Only reason that I'd charge a few bones would be because I would

take time to take the pics and write out the house description.

On the other hand, I wouldn't trip over the dollars to get the pennies.

Just something I'll play with.

On our site we offer a free classified section that they can post and ad and for posting the ad I send them a certificate to a free get away vacation for three days two nights in a resort of their choice anywhere in the United States. So far it been going slow but that due to lack of marketing on our part.
