Help a honkey name a website

I've went this long without one and finally decided to join the

crowd.

 

I've put some thought into it during my "down times" and wanted the name

to justify what I'll be using the website for.

I've been back-n-forth on whether or not I would have 2 separate sites ( 1 for buying, 1 for selling) or just have

a 1-stop site for all my real estate services (buying/selling/consulting/etc.).

 

My decision is to just have 1 (for now), as I don't care about sellers

seeing their houses for sale or rent. They should be aware by now that I don't do this real estate stuff

for free. I know some have issues with this. Not I!!

 

I've narrowed the domain names down to these, so don't anyone

from Alabama copy them!!! :

 

1. bamahousebuyers.com

It's my favorite thus far.

It goes good for sellers, cuz that's what I do.

It goes good for buyers, as they're looking to buy houses in good ol' Alabama.

Also, it's short enough to remember and easy enough to read, should someone be flying

by @ 55 mph.

 

2. alabamarealestateconsultants.com

...me likes the consultants in the title, but the title

itself seems too long...

However, I want to convey and stress the "consultant"

aspect, as I've shifted to a dealmaker/consultant-type role,

as opposed to an actual buyer. I may not actually buy a house,

but may assist the sale of one or help someone get into a home.

But still, I could convey this in option 1.

 

3. alabamapropertysolutions.com

Dunno about this one. It's nice, but it seems the whole "solutions" thing

has been overcooked by countless others. Besides, I'll be using the word

"solutions" in my title under my web name.

 

Whatcha think?

 

Feel free to throw out some suggestions.

I'm sure some of ya will come up with something......

You can easily qualify what you do on the site and this domain is by far the most workable. Long domains are worthless for any marketing medium that requires the person to type it in. It's fine for net-exclusive marketing where they can just click but not for remembering and typing.

Jason, you've thought this all through, obviously. And the reasons you laid out, pro and con for each, I have to agree with. Count one more vote for number 1.

That sounds like a good domain name. One thing to keep in mind that I did not do initially is make sure you can easily say your domain name on the telephone. By doing this when working with other investors / buyers / sellers / renters on the telephone you can easily give them your e-mail adress or they can remember. I discovered the last few years that steve@equity-associates.com is very difficult to relay on the telephone. Most of the time I have them just e-mail me on my yahoo.com account instead. If my domain was ibuyhouses.com it would be easy to tell someone to just e-mail that form to me at steve@ibuyhouses.com.

Steve, if you think steve@equity-asscoiates.com is hard. Try saying rent2own4u.com "Err ahh, well, it's the word "rent" the number "2" the word "own" the number "4" and the letter "u".

 

That's why I don't talk to buyers on the phone until AFTER they've been to the website

Buy all 3. Make Bamahousebuyers your main site, then redirect the other 2 towards it for now. At least this way if you make a decision one way or another later you can always change. At $5-10/yr for each name having a couple extras won't break the bank.

I'd kill the Flash everywhere — and absolutely kill the Flash intro — before it gets out of hand. It isn't needed, and people with Flash Blockers (me, for instance) only see a blank front page with the words "View Site," and large blank areas where the Flash is throughout the site. Nothing screams "amateur web developer" quite like Flash. Go beat up the guy who sold you that.
