randian 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2009 MC surely knows the best ones. If you're ever on the west coast check out Mazzaro's in St Pete and Castellano & Pizzo in Tampa.
MichaelC 160 Report post Posted February 13, 2009 Now you're talking, randian. Let's get on to a topic of worth here!In my area, the best Italian deli around is Doris's Italian Deli: a man's gotta eat!And for the best damn pizza in town, ya gotta try Anthony's Coal Oven Pizza. Be forewarned. This place leads to insatiable cravings not easily satisfied.
randian 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2009 There's a several mile stretch of US-1 south of Yamato that's Italian restaurant heaven. Pretty much every strip mall on both sides of the road (or so it seems) has 1 or more Italian restaurant in it. I tried Anthony's in Fort Lauderdale (or was that Pompano?). It was good, and I liked it a lot more than the NY-style pizza that's ubiquitous in SE FL, but my champion and still favorite pizza style is Chicago deep dish (with or without the dual-crust like Giordano's). MichaelC 160 Report post Posted February 13, 2009 Ah, yes. The old Chicago deep dish versus NY thin crust debate. As a born and bred New Yawker, I have to vote for the latter. But if you invite me to lunch at Lou Malnati's, I won't turn you down.

No Chicago-style pizza joints in SE FL? Bummer. I hope Giordano's expands down south (they're already in Tampa and Orlando).

randian 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 If you don't mind mail order, A.G. Ferrari is a great store (I've been to one of their SF Bay Area retail storefronts).
