CL Did You Know?

Recommended Posts

I posted an ad last week for some independent contractor work so I could make some extra money. I got flagged and my ad was removed. So I followed the link they sent to me and found out that we can and SHOULD be flagging inappropriate posts in our local CL listings.

The flagging rules are there on CL for review. They say that by doing this it will make CL a higher quality and more beneficial FREE service. So I went in there with a flagging mentality to the fsbo section and did flag many inappropriate ads by realtors and people posting the same ad 3-10 times in a day (the rule is every other day).

I wonder if we all did this on a regular basis if it would actually make a difference. In my mind I don't need another thing to do but if it cut down on some of the c%&P on Cl it might be worth the effort.

Your thoughts?

I, too, have gone on the occasional flagging binge, usually brought on by replying to several ads in the FSBO section that were posted by Agents. Other than blowing off some steam, I don't know that it will make a difference in cleaning up the mess. . .but it do feel good. B)

I flag them as well. It helps a little. It takes a few people to flag the same ad before it comes down. I am not sure if enough people flag them, but I always hope it works.

I flag ads all the time, but I also send e-mails reminding agents of their responsibility to fully disclose their status as a licensee in my state. I've never had an apology from them. I've threatened to report them to the DRE. Its a lost cause, but I feel that my job of marketing would be easier if agents would stop pretending to be home owners by just posting their name. Sometimes agents contact me, and when I review the ad and find they didn't disclose...I always let them know. I'm sure they flag my ads and have them removed. On Trulia I had an agent get upset when I asked why they didn't follow their code of full disclosure. She said basically that all things real estate is their right/turf and I should always just assume its a realtor. I am not fond of this mentality.
