Interesting article, and none too surprising, either. There's gold in them thar junk fees and penalties that the lenders charge. The bigger question is why didn't the geniuses that are running the country right now anticipate this and address it, before tossing billions at the problem?

Mostly because the geniuses in charge of the bailouts were the same geniuses who used to run the banks and got us into this trouble. There are very few fresh faces or ideas in Washington. The "Old Boys Club" is still very much in control.
