I'm having some computer problems...

Recommended Posts

Man, this sucks.

My computer hard drive has crashed and I lost ALL of my saved

files and settings. At least I won't have to worry about all that porn being

found by my significant other. Then again, it's possible that's what

caused this mess to begin with........ :)

Anyway...

I was wondering if anyone knows how/were I'd be able to scroll pages I'm

viewing without it having a Page Up & Page Down effect.

I swear, it takes 2 minutes to scroll a screen.

Also, my font is totally different and I've been unable

to get it back to looking like what I've been used to these past 3 years.

Believe me, I've been through everything in order to get things back

to what I'm wanting...to no avail! :)

Thanks for any help or pointers.

I'll be forever grateful, yo.

Sincerly,

Desperate in Alabama

Ok.

I can't help but chuckle a little on that one.

It's best read when you read my 1st post, your post, then back to my

post. :)

Jason,

If I understand your posting correctly, you can view data right now(even if it is without the scrolling and other goodies etc). If that is the case then it means that your computer's hard-disk hasnt actually "crashed". So, thats good news.

If you are not getting some of the features that you used to get before(scrolling and other things), it could be that some of your system files must have been corrupted.

If you can avail of the Operating System Installable CDs for your computer's OS, you could just put them in and run them. When you run them, at the very begining, it should give you an Option on the lines of "Install Operating System" OR "Repair Operating System". Choose the repair option, hit "Submit" and it should do the rest. When it is done it will ask you to reboot the machine and hopefully when your machine comes up again, it should give you the default behaviour. The scroll and other basic things should work fine after that.

Now, if you had customised any settings, then you would need to do them again. The repairing of the OS files would just bring it back to the default behaviour.

Anyways, you can try the above and let us know if it worked.

Yeah, I believe my wife didn't choose the Repair option.

I'm guessing this is where everything got screwed around.

Ah well, she tried.

I'll give your suggestions a shot and let you

know how things turn out, Ardy.

Thanks for your help.
